Burn permit Agreement

Guidlines

When filling out a burn permit, please make sure the location you are burning at is the location you put inside the text box, also the date and time when you plan on burning. We understand that weather conditions could divert you from burning on the day you requested, if that is the case please make a new burn request so Richville firefighter's know and have it logged to let dispatch know.

Do's:

1.Monitor Weather Conditions: Ensure suitable weather conditions (e.g., wind speed & humidity)
2.Prepare the Area: Clear vegetation and flammable materials within the area at least 10 foot around the burn site / area.
3.Have Fire Suppression Tools Ready: Make sure to have water (garden hose or other water source.) and or fire extinguisher within reach.
4.Supervise the Burn!: Ensure that a responsible adult is monitoring the fire at all times!
5.Burn Only Approved Materials: Leaves, branches, and or other natural / raw materials.
6.Fully Extinguish the Fire: After you are done burning, make sure that it is completely extinguished before leaving it unattended.
7.Report Emergencies Immediately: Do not hesitate to call 911 if things get out of control, we are here to help!

Do Not:

1.Burn Prohibited Materials: Avoid burning materials such as plastics, rubber, tires, household waste, treated wood, building material, or hazardous chemicals.
2.Leave the Fire Unattended: Never leave a fire unattended, even for a short period of time.
3.Burn During High Winds: Do not ignite a fire during windy conditions, as this increases the risk of the fire spreading.
4.Ignore Burn Bans: Refrain from burning during declared burn bans or air quality advisories.
5.Allow Fires to Spread: Avoid lighting a fire close to buildings, fences, vehicles, or other structures.
6.Rely Solely on Natural Barriers: Do not assume nearby streams, roads, or other features will contain the fire.
7.Use Accelerants: Refrain from using gasoline, diesel, or other accelerants to start or fuel the fire.
